Campaigning in the referendum is governed by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. Anyone who spends more than £10,000 on referendum purposes during the referendum period, and who is not part of an organised group which is already registered, is obliged to register with the Electoral Commission and to file information about their expenditure after the referendum. It is also a condition that you inform us on 0844 573 6444 if you spend more than £200 in using these materials. Failure to comply with the requirements is an offence. For more information, please see http://www.electoralcommission.gov.uk.
These materials are being made available on condition that you will not, either on your own or together with others, spend more than £10,000 without our prior authorisation or the prior authorisation of a registered organised group of which you are a member. If you consider that you are likely to exceed this limit it is a further condition that you must contact us on 0844 573 6444 before you do so.
NO to AV cannot accept responsibility for anyone who breaches the conditions attached to the use of our materials.

The AV referendum was part of the coalition deal after the 2010 election. During those negotiations, Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats could have asked for anything. They could have safeguarded frontline services, asked for tuition fees to be left alone, or opposed the rise in VAT – but when it came down to it, they decided instead to push for a referendum on a voting system that no one really wants.
There are student groups right across the country who, like the NO to AV campaign, have different views on what the ideal voting system is. What they all have in common is their agreement that Nick Clegg’s desire to bring in AV will only harm British democracy.
